Feeling rather stoked! - I had an excellent time down at Bolton Camera Club tonight which was as usual, a very well turned out event. It was our Presentation Evening for all the 8 competitions I was eligible to enter which were held during 2016. The Trophies were presented by the current President of the L&CPU Garth Tighe CPAGB.
Many of the club members in the Advanced level regularly compete against each other and consistently produce some fantastic images; they never fail to astound me with their incredible images be it street photography, landscape and wildlife work, and I start every competition night after running through the images wondering if I’m ever going to be up there with a chance of a winning shot. The judges on the whole last year were a pretty well chosen lot by our competition secretary Richard; I consider between them they made some great decisions and also some very questionable ones too!
Anyway this is how it panned out. I won for the second year running the Trophy for the ‘Themed’ Competition. I also won the trophy for the (PDI) Projected Digital Image Competition. Also, I won the Trophy for The Best PDI image taken on a Club Day Out competition. (I only went on one to New Brighton, mainly to offer other members help and assistance in their own photography). And to top it all off, out of a total of 96 club members, I also won the Bolton Camera Club ‘Photographer of the year’ Trophy having scored the most club points in all the competitions throughout 2016, so all in all I’ve bagged four trophies of which I am immensely proud of. Congratulations must also go to all the other club members who were runners up and those who also won the other sections.
Thanks too to my wonderful wife Eileen who constantly wonders what the hell I’m doing most nights in front of that computer screen! Now I hope you realise it’s all been worth it! (I have some new and exciting gear in mind too for my next birthday in a week or so xxx)
2017 will be a bigger challenge as the club has now 3 sections with, beginner, intermediate and advanced workers and there are just 10 of us in the advanced section. Good luck to everyone in 2017.
A final mention must go to John Durkin who won the ‘Club Level Print Competition' trophy along with the 'Club Level PDI Competition' Trophy, well done John, you’ve come a very long way in a short space of time, keep it up.
Here is a selection of some of the winning images that have earned me the points and trophies.
